The 2014 presidential election was held on July 9 2014. The candidates were Joko Widodo and Prabowo Subianto Gerindra, The candidates for the vice were Jusuf Kalla (Jokowi’s vice ) and Hatta Rajasa (Prabowo’s vice). On July 22 2014, the General Elections Commission announced Joko Widodo’s victory. Joko Widodo won the Presidential election in 2014 with 53,15% of the votes for him and 46,58% of the votes for Prabowo. The elections are carried out under the supervision of the General Elections Commission (KPU). The nominations of candidates for the presidential election may only be made by a party which has at least 20% of the seats in the national parliament ( DPR) or which received 25% of national votes in the previous national legislative election for the DPR. So indonesia is working on e-voting for the new system in the 2014 general elections. The basis of the e-voting system is electronic identity cards (e-KTP) which were expected to be ready nationwide by 2012 and have been tried in six districts/cities such as Padang, Denpasar, Yogyakarta, Cilegon. How ever the election using e-voting was still not ready and the voters still vote with paper, the voters punch a hole between the 2 candidates’ photography, number, or name.
